Layered foam lasts longer because arrows are stopped with friction. Plus the foam is self-healing (for broadheads) and inserts can be shot at from multiple sides. The heart and lung areas do not line up from side to side so you shoot at different areas. You can shoot field tips, broadheads, expandables, even crossbow bolts.
