History
1979
Paul Hubner’s father creates the Baffin brand using manufacturing equipment earlier used by a team from the UK in Stoney Creek, Ontario
1982
It wasn’t until the early 1980s that boots started being made differently than shoes, with comfort and fit playing an important role. Baffin started introducing specific boots for fit around this time, especially those for women and children, two demographics
under-represented in boot footwear
1985
After a few years, Baffin’s rubber products were well-established with the utmost in construction quality, able to withstand the harsh elements of a Canadian winter.
Over the next few years, the Hubner family travels to Baffin Island on a number of occasions, working with the Inuit to inspire their new footwear. The Arctic boots used layers of natural resources for insulation when felt liners were commonplace. Baffin modernized the Arctic layering approaching by creating a multi-component felt liner to boots
1996
Paul Hubner and the team at Baffin create a blend of both natural and synthetic components in a collection of purposeful layers to keep feet dry, warm and comfortable. Footwear with this revolutionary Inner-Boot system is field-tested to temperatures as cold as -70℃.
2006
Paul Hubner and his Baffin boots are challenged to really put boots to the test at the North and South Poles in temperatures as low as -100℃. Despite the wind, snow and extreme temperatures, the boots continue to perform and withstand the elements
2011
Baffin® introduces their apparel assortment. The Hubner Family crosses the Arctic Circle head-to-toe in Baffin® footwear and apparel
2018
Senior Vice President, Mark Hubner, continues the legacy by leading an expedition around Lake Ontario – testing new product in extreme Canadian winter conditions.
