We Own Winter

We believe you when you say you’ve walked to school in –40°C with a booter, uphill, both ways, of course. We know the difference between a wet cold and a dry cold, and the unfair fact that it can’t be sunny and warm at the same time. We know it’s not an exaggeration to say it’s colder than Mars on the prairies in winter.

We get it. But, we don’t think winter is something Canadians should just “get through”. When outfitted in quality gear from Bass Pro Shops & Cabela’s Canada, you’ll be able to – yes, we’ll say it – enjoy winter.

This winter, get outside and OWN IT.

FOR THE COLDEST OF COLD DAYS

No one knows cold better than Canadians. That’s why we designed these new heavy-duty, high-quality Cabela’s parkas right from our Canadian head office in Winnipeg. Because even on the coldest of cold days, the dog still needs to be walked and the driveway still needs to be cleared. Winter can’t stop you.

JUST A CHILL IN THE AIR

Just enough of a layer to keep the chill-out. These pieces are great for layering when you’re hopping in and out of the car quickly, on days at the hockey rink, or during transition seasons.

JUST FOR KIDS

Kids know it best: bad weather looks worse through the window. Snow brings unlimited possibilities for play, like building snow forts, having snowball fights, making snow angels or climbing massive snow banks after the plow has gone down your street. The secret to making sure your kids last more than ten minutes outside? You guessed it – quality winter outerwear and footwear.

ICE FISHING OUTERWEAR & FOOTWEAR

Tackle another season of hard water fishing adventures with the right outerwear and footwear. These pieces offer more features than regular outerwear, like reinforced knees (so you don’t wear them out when reeling in), built-in flotation (select pieces), and reflective striping so you’re seen in low-visibility conditions.

LAYERING

Layering your clothes when adventuring outdoors might seem straightforward, but there is a science behind it. Learn about the three main layers you should be familiar with, and what specific purpose each one serves.

Base Layer

The main role of this layer is to wick any moisture away from your skin. If moisture is trapped, you will feel instantly cold once you stop moving. Choose moisture-wicking pieces that stay tight to your skin, and a fabric weight appropriate for the temperature you'll be in.

Mid-Layers

The main role of this layer is to add insulation. Choose pieces that add warmth without the bulk so you can stay mobile. Fleece is a great option for this layer.

Outer Layer

This layer is meant to protect the layers within from the elements, like wind and snow. Your outer layer should fit comfortably over your other layers, but not too loose so your body heat escapes.
