FROM BOW TO STERN, WE HAVE YOU COVERED

At Bass Pro Shops & Cabela's, we know it takes a lot more than just rods and reels to find success out on the water. The better your gear, the more efficient the catch, and with our wide selection of leading-edge boating technology, we have everything you need to outfit your boat from bow to stern with all the bells and whistles.

Finding The Fish

Out on the water, half the battle is finding the hot spots where fish are present, and bites are a given. Our expansive array of fishfinders take the guess work out of the equation.

Most fishfinders will utilize one or more types of the below technologies, helping to illuminate the world under the water’s surface and guide your rod. Typically, the more advanced the device, the more options for imagining it will have included.

Side Imaging

180-degree side-to-side perspectives on the right and left of the boat offer a comprehensive view of the bottom surface as well as the water column. Like down-imaging, it renders picture-like quality images.

Down Imaging

This technology utilizes a thin, high-frequency beam to analyze terrain, vegetation, and fish, and recreate correlating images on your screen. This fishfinder is similar to sonar finders, but it helps to differentiate structures from fish by rendering picture-like quality images.

Sonar

Traditional sonar imaging uses sound waves, which vibrate off a transducer mounted to the boat and submerged in the water.

When these sound waves hit something solid, like underwater vegetation, bottom surface, or fish, it records that information and displays it on the screen. Sonar technology is used in both side- and down-imaging, however those variants are considered improvements on its original basic form.

Live Sonar

Live sonar uses a transducer device to absorb information through sound waves in real time - in contrast to traditional sonar, which produces slightly delayed images, which often means the fish appearing on your screen have already passed you by. We can compare the difference between sonar and live sonar to picture and video.

GPS

GPS stands for Global Positioning System, which receives and records signals from government satellites to determine an exact location and position.

This technology helps to track your course, pin favourite fishing spots for later, and gain valuable information about water hazards and other structural elements of your body of water. Some locators are able to combine this with sonar data and build high definition maps of the bottom.

Trolling Motors

Trolling motor stabilizers can protect your boat and mount when trailering and in heavy waves.

Tip: Always use a circuit breaker between your trolling motor and battery to protect the life of your motor.
